GameDevClub

The IowaStateUniversity GameDevClub's goal is to promote game development in general for ISU students and get them involved in the game development industry and Internet community. We provide a place for those interested in creating games to get together, share ideas, learn about the industry, and have a good time. Game development is a difficult field to get into, and we want to help push interested people to become productive game developers.

Keep in mind, making a game is a lot of work. It takes a ton of time, a broad range of skills, and a drive to follow the project through to completion. Even the smallest project will probably take months to finish. More ambitious ones take years and years. However, don't let that discourage you! Once you get started, you will realize how fun and addictive making games can be! Finally having a completed game displayed right there on your web site or monitor is the best feeling in the world, not to mention the great new addition to your resume and skill set. While a decidedly nontrivial undertaking, making games is highly rewarding and self-motivating. Wouldn't you like to play a game that you have created?

We meet once a week in Howe 1252 on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. and discuss game development topics, such as writing a design document, tips on getting into the industry, some useful programming tricks, or how to make animated 3D models.
